Very nice. I will have to check that out. I have never played the console version but this looks fun. If you wanted to get real serious you could always create a mod with a cheap guitar and keyboard.

"Farcry 2 - No monsters? In Africa? Dynamic, sandbox gameplay? This ought to be interesting."

huh? they didn't make it be in Africa anymore? isn't it in the serengeti type place (the actual serengeti in africa I assume) for at least part?

how is mouse and keyboard not intuitive? I don't get it... Just because we aren't shaking the mouse to do something on screen doesn't mean it's not intuitive. Mouse and keyboard is way more intuitive and versatile than the imprecision of the Wii-mote, and basically every game that's on the PS3 that has motion controls, the motion controls part sucks.

Change doesn't mean better. Just because we've been using it for years doesn't mean it's bad. Did doom even have mouse look? Everyone I know used keyboard up until quake pretty much, On a side note, WASD was actually first in Terminator: SkyNET in 1996, maybe Terminator: Future Shock in 1995 both by Bethesda, yes that Bethesda. http://www.3dgamers.com/games/termskynet/ http://www.3dgamers.com/games/termfutureshock/

By all means, make full news items based on what someone you ask HEARD about the topic at hand. Don't do any research or be worried about little things like "Facts" or "truth." Those are definitely outdated concepts that have no place in news.... *boggle*

The 2001 trailer was the one I remembered. I agree that they should've just came out with it to at least keep some faith in the franchise and make some money to pay the developers. I remember being really excited about Duke Nukem Endangered Species Hunter, but they shelved that one as well. There's a whole history of the development issues if you go to the Duke Nukem Forever listing on Wikipedia.

the trailer that they released in 1998 looked bad, generic FPS and no like a duke game at all but the one from 2001 look decently far along and like it could have been real good! so lame they didn't release that one and then start on another, rather than just shelve it and start a whole new one.

1998: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3pwMdXRdDY&feature=related
2001: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHU3sq8Wfjs&feature=related

I wonder how much of the delays were because of publisher/distributor problems? GT Interactive got bought by Infograms (who is now Atari), and apparently 3D Realms got out of the deal they had with GT Interactive because then Gathering of Developers (who was owned by Take Two Interactive) had the rights, and then Gathering had a bunch of executive turn overs and different strategies to turn it around and then it closed and now it's with take two directly (or is it with 2k Games now?), so ya, ther's been a few execs that could have went medaling in the process.

not sure if it should have been cheaper, since it's technically a new release for PC, though it's been out on Xbox 360 for a while. Cool about the extra content though. I already own it for Xbox 360 though, so no reason to re-buy it for a slight amount of new content, at least for me.

But ya, if you're less concerned about heat on your lap or battery life and want great gaming performance, then this might be worth a look. And at least with an MXM slot you MIGHT have a chance to upgrade the card, with a normal laptop you have no chance at all... So it's not a total loss and this laptop does have it's place.

Resellers only being able to sell laptops and not parts makes sense. Distributors order parts based on systems, getting stuck with a laptop that you can't get a video card for or being stuck with a video card that is an older slot type or some such is not good for business. Laptops are still sold as consumer devices, you wouldn't call up Samsung and ask for a replacement DVD tray for a set top box. Upgrading anything besides RAM and hard drive in a laptop is still very niche. Almost no one does, and it's not in any of the large manufactures interest to make parts available, there isn't much money in it. Plus laptop technology turns over so fast, it's not like AGP vs PCI express. Plus other things like how much power a video card would need, whether it would require more cooling, etc. You can't just order a new better heatsink for your laptop. Most of the time you'll be hard pressed to find a replacement anyway, let alone one that was better. And you can sometimes find a higher watt third party AC adapter that will work with your laptop model but it's definitely not something you can count on for every model or anything.

Anyway, I'm not impresssed with that laptop... why would I spend a bunch of money on a laptop that's going to get like 5 minutes of battery life because it uses a desktop CPU. Plus does it even support the 1333FSB CPUs? If it doesn't, it will soon be hard to find a CPU to put in it, let alone an upgrade CPU in the future.
