Intel is planning to follow up the recently released Celeron Dual-Core E1200 with the E1400 in Q2 2008. The Celeron Dual-Core E1400 has the same 800MHz Front side bus and 512KB shared L2 cache but ups the clock speed to 2.0GHz from the E1200′s 1.6GHz. Digitimes is quoting the price as $53 for OEM in quantity of 1000 units, which is the same price they quoted for the E1200. If Intel releases the E1400 at the same price point as what they’re selling the E1200 for currently, it’s unclear if they will push the price down on the E1200 or just discontinue the slower model.

The Celeron E1200 is currently in stock at MWave.com for $52.50, NCIXus.com for $52.72 and Newegg for $65.99. I was surprised by how much higher Newegg’s price was. Another surprise is that TigerDirect and ZipZoomFly don’t even list the CPU, let alone have it in stock.
