Intel may delay mainstream 45nm quad-core CPUs

posted by Eric C. in Hardware, Processors |

Digitimes is saying that according to sources at motherboard manufacturers, Intel has decided to push back the release of their up coming 45nm Quad Core CPUs because AMD’s quad-core CPUs aren’t applying any pressure and Intel doesn’t want to step on the sales of the 65nm CPUs. The Core 2 Quad Q9300, Q9450 and Q9550 CPUs were originally going to be released in January 2008 but they’re saying Intel has pushed them back to Febuary or March.

Intel responded by saying that the 45nm quad-core launch for desktop is on schedule for first quarter 2008 but wouldn’t get any more specific than that.

The notebook 45nm CPUs are not affected though, according to Dailytech some manufacturers have already received volume processor shipments.

There is currently one response to “Intel may delay mainstream 45nm quad-core CPUs”
