OCZ Freeze, a new thermal compound

posted by Eric C. in Cooling, Hardware |

OCZ has announced a new thermal compound, not based on silver. OCZ touts that their new Freeze thermal compound can lower temperatures by as much as 10% over silver thermal compound, though OCZ was comparing it to their now discontinued OCZ Ultra 5+. It has yet to be compared to Arctic Silver 5 but Ultra 5+ may actually have been manufactured by Arctic Silver. I know the after OCZ’s Ultra II Premium Silver Compound was found to not contain any silver, they started a recall within 24 hours and replaced it a new model that was manufactured by Arctic Silver. With that said, they’ve had a few models since then and it has been 3+ years ago, so it’s unclear who manufactured the last model.
